Wedding Trivia & History

*Did you know many centuries ago a Israeli man would raid a neighboring tribe capture a bride and flee before her family could seek revenge.  He would then spend the night under the moon in a secluded area with his new bride drinking mead, which is liquor made from fermented honey.  The mead was referred to as bride ale, which evolved into the word we now know to be bridal.  The secluded night in which honey drinking took place was known as the honeymoon.  "Interesting!"

*Get the bubbly on "The Bubbly".  Did you know that your favorite Wedding Bubbly was actually founded by a Monk?  That's right, monk Dom Perignon!  Dom Perignon was born in 1640 and at the age of 19 he became a Benedictin monk in Abbey of Saint - Vannes at Verdun.  At the age of 28 he was named the Cellar Abbey of Hautvilliers!  Dom Perignon died in 1715 and was buried in the Middle of the Vines.  According to legend, he was the one that found out how to avoid the corks explosion, due to the pressure inside the bottle.  Of course non other than - he used a wire!
